I know there are a few guys around this forum who run their own businesses. I've just started doing some work for a mate of mine who has a good little business. It started out as a niche business and has never been marketed at all, all clients are just people in his network plus word of mouth. I reckon a little bit of marketing will help it branch out a lot fairly easily.
I'm never done any type of marketing and the only thing I've ever sold is beer when I was a barman about 10 years ago, so really not sure where to start.
The business is physical currency exchange, not cash, bank transfers between currencies/countries. We can do it for a lot cheaper than using the big 4 banks and I think it will sell itself. It's getting it out there or seen I want to focus on. Target clients are pretty broad, any deal is a good deal. The clients we don't want are people transferring less than $1,000 and people without an account to transfer to on the other side, so I guess that would rule out a lot of travellers.
I was thinking about sending off some targeted unsolicited emails. Is this allowed?? Where would be best to advertise this sort of service? pamphlets? google ads? some sort of sponsorship? any advice appreciated...
Any good books I can read on the subject? forums? etc etc
