These are not my words, but what is printed on the front page of Murdoch's Market Watch website:
Link to article:
Is this about economics or politics? It's about economics. It's about the fact that the US economy is built as a war economy. It's a military imperial economy. I can't believe that Mr Paul B. Farrell just lays it out plain and simple there on the front page of a Murdoch publication but there you go.
Strange days these. Federal budget "sequestration" kicks in followed by... Gold price collapse, ricin poison in Washington DC politician's mail, bombs going off in Boston, and a call for war from a financial publication.
I am no scholar of history, but I have said on this forum several times that the US economy is built as a military imperial economy and as such is destined to suffer the same fate of all military imperial empires that have preceded it - hastened I might add by the presidency of George W Bush who goes down in history as the only imperial leader to both engage in a very expensive escalation of warfare spending while cutting taxes. A guaranteed recipe for economic disaster.
Strange times - calls for war coming out of Wall Street.
I assume the article is trying to be tongue-in-cheek but actually it is just downright offensive. Read it through and tell me if it isn't completely crackpot?
It seems that cuts to military budgets are upsetting the elite. Time for a war!
