I love the way a former Optus executive Paul Fletcher is haranguing the Govt over the high reserve price it has set for the 700 mhz spectrum being auctioned later this year.
Now how can someone from the right (unless he's a covert commie) be arguing the Govt should sell a VERY valuable asset at anything but the highest price it can obtain?
The guy can't even do maths properly. He bases his arguments on the fact that the last auction in 2000 for the 1800 mhz spectrum raised only $1.3 billion. Well duh Paul, there's just a couple of things a tad faulty with your logic. Firstly i-n-f-l-a-t-i-o-n (i get the feeling I have to speak s l o w l y) and then the quite high population growth over the period.
So when you look at a per capita cost in 2013 $ terms, there's really not much difference between then and now.
Anyone know how many Optus shares the guys still has left?
Govt providing public resources at a discount to favoured companies...sounds so very Chinese Govt to me
