My partners contract on her iPhone 3 is up so we went shopping on the weekend to get her a new phone. We have both been huge fans of the iPhone, so naturally we went for the iphone 5 first. After having a play around with it, it's really quite disappointing. They haven't really provided any new ground-breaking technology, it seems to just be an I phone 4 that's a bit longer, a bit faster, and is 4g compatible. There is nothing that new or intriguing about it, and a few people I know who have got one have said the battery drains so quickly they are charging it at least once a day(probably standard for smart-phones these days perhaps).
Not to mention they have removed google maps and the built in you-tube app, and replaced the maps with their own not as impressive version.
So was just curious if anyone has the rival, the samsung galaxy SIII. They are releasing a new one on Tuesday that is 4G compatible. My wife played around with it for a bit, and has decided that is the one she is going to get. It's slightly bigger, and looks sharper than the i phone in my opinion.
Has anyone had any troubles with them, or have any advice or personal experiences? A mate at work had an older model galaxy and the battery just about melted inside the handset, so would love to hear any stories or recommendations on the samsung. My contract is up in february and I am thinking of making the switch to a samsung/android phone myself.
