In London everyone is rallying in the streets and having parties, the queen is celebrating 50 years or something of "her reign" which seems to just be a default leadership position which involves not really leading or taking a stand on anything.
There doesn't seem to be any acknowledgement of Australia or other commonwealth countries in the celebrations - she's supposed to be our queen too, it just comes off as being some kind of english nationalism, something to hang ones hat on, and a bit of nostalgia.
Are people rallying and celebrating in the streets here... does anyone really care? It pretty much amounts to some of the old dears - mostly english migrants watching a bit of it on the telly.
We keep hearing that we still have plenty of loyal subjects here, they're a bit quiet.
