I would say definitely there is, although generally not recognised as such.
In 95% of cases you will find most smokers eating kettle chips, not eating fists.
But there are some, especially amongst chronic users since a young age where being deprived of your drug of choice can cause a flip out occasionally leading to violence. I have personally witnessed this. To me it was obviously a case of full fledged withdrawals.
I would also posit that the current running war between the Mexicartels and USDEA constitutes largely 'marijuana fuelled violence'.

Asolutely, marijuana can lead to violent, psychotic episodes.
Our stoner ex-neighbour (we ended up moving, not him) would completely lose the plot at times, wanting to fight anyone who took umbrage to his unsociable and antagonistic antics. I always thought it was purely an alcohol issue until the penny dropped why he always looked and acted so calm and sober the next day.
His missus left him not long after I spotted her with black eyes.
