THE whistleblower nurse who exposed killer surgeon Jayant Patel has been granted a compensation payout from employer Queensland Health in a confidential out-of-court settlement.
Bundaberg nurse Toni Hoffman lodged a claim in the District Court last December, seeking $400,000 for medical expenses and loss of income and superannuation.
She says the stress of exposing Patel had taken its toll and caused her to miss work.
She also says she was forced to take annual leave to attend the surgeon's trial.
A relieved Ms Hoffman says she's happy with the outcome and feels she can move on
