not sure if im allowed to post this sort of stuff but ill give it a crack!
So my fiance and i have finally opened up our small online retail business. reason i am posting is to hopefully pick the brains of those who currently are, or have, ran a small business, particularly online. we dont intend on borrowing any money, and will be expanding purely off the back of our capital reserves - a roundabout way of saying money is tight.
just after some thoughts and comments from those that are experienced in the world of business!
below are some of the areas i would love to hear from people on:
marketing - we are well under way with an SEO contract(search engine optimisation), we also have an adwords campaign(only a small one), and our site is(and will be more so shortly) heavily integrated with a facebook page. can anyone suggest any other marketing techniques that might in their experience have been very successful? or some that we should stay away from?
running the business - neither of us have been to college/university so i'm kinda making it up as i go along. we have a very simple and effective business model, and i believe it has huge potential. so was hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on things i should look out for. perhaps some things that are essential to a successful business i may have overlooked? maybe some traps for young players? i've done alot of reading and like to think i have most angles covered(both good and bad), but never hurts to ask!
would like to hear any other things that you might think would be of value to us!
some of you may be thinking - just another dotcom. we have done the research, and although the competition has grown rapidly for this particular retail sector, we have targeted a section of the market that is untapped to date(in my opinion).
for those that wanna tell me to cram it and work it out for myself feel free to keep it to yourself.
any feedback is much appreciated!
