I run a small home operation wholesaling goods Australia wide. recently I subscribed to a call cap from vodafone which allows all land lines and mobiles including STD and barring all pivotel numbers such as 13* 18* etc. I noticed that Vodafone offer the worst coverage nowadays and got fed up with call drop outs when im trying to close a deal.
Recently I found skype, and bought an $8 subscription to the service. This allows me to call all land lines within Australia barring pivotel numbers. I must say, I'm impressed. The call quality is great, the convenience is fantastic and overall is kind of fun.
No dropouts, good call quality, the ability to use the computer for the calls and overall a pretty cheap price.
I have dedicated a single monitor to emails and communication and am loving it. All you need is a headset with mic. The quality of the headset you use will make a difference, but is not really a determinate factor.
I recommend people use Skype for their land-line needs especially if you are making many STD calls. Unfortunately mobile phones are not covered and the price is 3c/minute. I'm not willing to pay that as my vodafone subscription offers me mobile calls unlimited, all around the nation and a flat rate.
