Recently got into a discussion around whether or not watching financial news was a positive or negative for traders.
While many watch more for background noise or boredom between trades, those trading off of price bars aren't concerned that analyst x says everyone should buy a stock. On days when the market is down, their voices get louder, faster, with a hint of panic.
But in the end, good traders don't listen to financial news in order to make a decision. If they did, they would always be chasing their tails.
As a technician, I prefer to have a set trading plan based upon rules and governed by being in position to profit from trends.
