I am in a bit of dilemna atm. Here is the facts. I am 34 currently unemployed have been since June 6th so nearly two monthes. Only being looking for 2 weeks and have a job offer which is about 10% less then previous job i was doing for the last 9 years. around 7k less. I am in IT worked for a very large prestigious employer before, but out department got retrenced to china. I had 3 monthes leave accrued with previous firm plus I have been employed for 14 years without being unemployed.
Advantages of potenital job is it is very close to home, manager seems very good and would be good to work with.
Disadvantages is it a small firm where I will have alot more responsibility eventually being team lead managing a small team, so in essence it is more responsibility for less pay, which is what gripes me.
I have other potential opportunities in the pipeline including an interview for another job which looks alot better this thursday + others i am waiting on interviews on.
What would people do?
Btw: finanically i am very good. own my own house outright worth 500k plus got a nice payout so have savings to live off. I am a saver so while i dont mind waiting for the right job i don't want to deplete much cash i have.
I also have skills employers are looking for regarding certifications and most jobs i have been applying for are around what i was on previously or more.
So do I wait or take the opportunity present?
