Just working off a bit of steam about the prevelence of planned obsolescence in the market place these days.
I have ,in the past purchased three electric razors.Nothing wrong with the first or the second or final one ,but the cutting heads had worn out...SO I went back to the shop to buy new heads for the first one and was told the heads cost $99.00 ,but it would be better to buy a whole new razor...for $79.00
Who was I to argue with the financial sense that makes?.
12 months down the track..the heads wore out on the second..went back ..same story.By this time I am smelling a seriously wiffy rat.I asked the salesperson why the cheap deals on the whole unit ..and none on cutters..He told me it was just the manufacturer trying to increase market share and ,anyway if I had bought the $299.00 model it would be cost effective to replace the cutters only.
Asked why the big differeence in prices ,he said the more expensive model had more power and a bigger charge light..Whoopee do!
My point is..why should perfectly servicible goods be thrown away ,because of these types of marketing ploys?
Anyone else had a similar experience to this? ..I have now gone back to Bic disposables and shave gel..that will show them!
