    TRUE STORY: (you we're told)

Outside Bristol Zoo there is a car park for 150 cars and 8 coaches.

There also used to be a very pleasant attendant with a ticket machine charging cars 1 and coaches 5.

This parking attendant worked there for all of 25 years , then one day he just didn't turn up for work...

Bristol Zoo Management phoned the City Council . 'Your parking attendant hasn't shown up for work today, so you'll need to send out a new parking attendant.'

"Err, no", said the Council, "that car park is your responsibility" ...

"Err, no", said Bristol Zoo Management, "the attendant was employed by the City Council - " .....

"Err , no - he was NOT !"

Now living in Spain is a bloke who had been taking , every day for the last 25 years, the Bristol Zoo's car park fees that amounted to a conservatively estimated 400 per day...

In China there are some who set up a little toll booth just outside public toilets. Works best in tourist areas. And for increased operational effectiveness, have a few tatooed blokes standing alongside as well.

I believe effort to be a finite resource. Something to be used only when there are no other options available.

This happens in indonesia literally everywhere... people take control of a street and when you park there they charge you 1000Rp (~20c). Of coarse paying them is optional as everyone knows they're not working for the council, but if you want your car scratch free... ur gonna pay up
