There's no denying St Mary's is popular. Its congregation is younger than most and it is growing. It has high level political support. The church is in the electorate of Queensland Premier Anna Bligh
who may be an atheist but admires St Mary's social justice work
The local Federal member is prime Minister Kevin Rudd
who has attended the annual general meeting of the church and sat on the floor during services. The Governor-General Quentin Bryce
is also a supporter.
