Sorry to be Qld-centric, but the Qld Competition Authority announced yesterday that it will recommend to the government that electricity prices be raised by 14% from July next year.
They have already gone up by 17% in the last two years.
If the government does not receive any protests over this, they will feel free to continue with this extraordinary raising of prices.
If they do get a backlash they will change it as we've just seen with the Bligh backflip over recycled water.
I've written to the Minister for Energy, Geoff Wilson, advising him that if electricity prices rise more than the CPI I, and I'd suggest many others, will not be voting for his government.
Hopefully some of you other Queenslanders will add your voice to this protest.
