Dear All,

IncredibleCharts give you 30 days trial without any advertising on the charting software.

But after 30 days you still able to use IncredibleCharts for free. The only hings is that there are advertising in it.

I don't find those advertising annoying at this stage. As I am still in the learning process. I am happy continuing using IncredibleCharts, but once I start putting my money on the market then I will definately purchase one of the charting software which I consider fitting into my situation.

Your comments on IncredibleCharts, please.

Have you found a way to stop the ads after the free trial expires?

I found the way to stop the ads, just pay the $18 per month EOD Data and the ads will disappear....LOL

Yes, if you say register today, you get 30 days trial. so when you reach say 25 days trial, you turn back your system clock. Instead of current date turn it back to 2003 instead of 2004.

PositiveCashFlow,

Are you still using IncredibleCharts? if not what other charting software are you using?

At this stage I hate to spend money on charting software, but I just have too in future.

I just format my PC because there are so much junk that I need to get rip-off. So I got another 30days free from IncredibleCharts.

The other charting that I am using is FCharts.

Hi Jet$,

I still use Incredible Charts occassionally (ads are starting to annoy though), though I generally find that the charts provided by the broker I signed up with is OK for the things I need. I don't need so much indicators... AmiBroker looks good from the posts I see on this site.. might look at that.. or if the $$ rolls in, Im looking at software called Advanced Get...

Cheers,

J.

I've recently started using IncredibleCharts too. I did see it mentioned here but didn't really bother to download till I saw link to it while browsing the their forums.

The ads have appeared after about a week. Prices seem to be live or slightly delayed (I haven't checked)- must be for first 30 days??

I'm quite happy with it as I get to know it better, a bit slow and sometimes limited but that's ok as it's free.

Q for those who've used if for a few months: Does the data become end of day after the first 30 days? They say you can't use other EOD data providers as they use special files (ie not csv format).

Any catches apart from the ads that you have come across??

DocJ- I noticed you started using it recently, any complaints or tips??

For it's price, no real complaints. Ads have started appearing here too, but I have some other software that prevents them from being displayed now.

Stock filters are handy but have several obvious omissions and is obviously no where near as powerful as metastock et al. The software itself is very fast and I've got no real complaints.

I contacted a few ASF members today about whether they knew of a fibonacci tool in IC, I just found out that they are still working on it, looks like it'll be June before it's included in IC, mind you they've had it on their 'to do' list for a few years now so don't hold your breath!! I know that Comsec's protrader2 has it but we all know how slow and unstable PT2 is, I use PT1 and it doesn't have fib tools but is otherwise fine for basic charting.

Stocky,
We are making progress, but slowly. My best guess is about 4 weeks to completion ...... I think I said that more than a month ago. Programming is painstakingly slow, laborious work.

Hello Everyone,

I have been using IC now for just over 3 years and love it. I pay the $180.00 becuase it simply pays for itself.

I also use Bullcharts simply because it has far greater scans for the market.

What you need to do first is draw yourself up a share market working plan on how you intend to trade the stockmarket. I do mean you and not copy someone else, simply because everyone's trading plan will be different according to their money management and stress levels. Also what indicators do you want to use.

Once you have been able to do this then you trial your software packages according to what you want.

Personally, I do not think it is necessary to spend more than a $1000 on a software program.

Also what type of data you want is also important. For example, I pay $1800 a year for live data. Yes, it is expensive and I know I can get it much cheaper, in fact almost for free through Etrade, however I use this live data for my indicators whether to buy and sell during the day and this is crucial.
Believe you me it has paid for itslf usually within the first 2 weeks of the financial year.

Do what is right for you now and change later if need be.

All the best.

Regards

Sarah

Yes, I use IC too for around 3 years and pay for it because I think that is only fair to the developers!

yeah im lovin IC, im still on the trial and tossing up if i get IC or Amibroker. As im new to sharetrading im going to give it a couple of months before deciding on which to purchase. Until then im using IC.

Yes you could get a hack to run the trial without the ads, but where will IC be in a couple of years time if most people did that?

Dreilly,

Very difficult to compare IC and Amibroker.

With IC pro version all Aust stocks are updated hourly and IC is very easy to use. The downside of IC is in its scanning function and if you you need more frequent data.

With Amibroker pro version is in its ability to do what metastock software will do, but cheaper. The downside is that you need to find someone who will support amibroker in its data. There are many but it gets down to cost.

May I suggest the following:

1/ If you are a beginner then pay 180.00 for IC for 1 Year. Develop your skills and read members forums.

2/ Subscribe free of charge to MedVed Quote tracker or pay about AUD $80.00. This is an excellent service especially if you are trading through Etrade or Commsec. They give you live data delayed only by 10 seconds, plus market depth. I am saying use this service and get use to it, because if you find IC not for you and want to use Amibroker then MedVed quote Tracker is linked to Amibroker.

My friend uses Amibroker and Medved quote tracker. She is happy with the service. She claims only use this system if you are trading with Etrade Commsec or sanford.

I hope this helps

While I agree that IC is relatively cheap for the hourly data I can't really see a reason why anyone should pay anything for basic charting (unlike Sarah who has a system and needs the data and tools for it) when they are starting out. So stick to the free data option unless you really want it- just my opinion newbies.

IC paid data is not really necessary imho unless you plan to trade intra-day or several times a week. The asx has 20min delayed data which you can check before placing an order if need be.

I am currently interested in IC for the fib tools for occasional charting.

Commsec also has a free basic charting package which comes with protrader (see the protrader thread) and it also has an online stock screening feature and more or less upto the minute market depth (most other data is eod, not live unless you upgrade to the top level version).

www.Bigcharts.com also has Aussie stocks but I don't think they adjust the data- so check the ASX site to be sure before relying on it. All see the Egoli software mentioned elsewhere on ASF.

People can get carried away with charting software without even knowing that those costs are eating away at their capital. See the many threads on money management and expectancy on ASF before spending big on software.

thanks all, and thanks sarah for that tip, im going to take your advice directly and see how i go for a couple of months until i get more experience.

I do use etrade, but ill be limited on capital for the first twelve months or so as im stashing 1K per month into my trading account to get myself going. So i guess my trading will be sporadic during this period.

Im learning at a reasonable pace, and one option that i liked about ami is the scanning function.

Strange that i didnt even start this thread but i ended up having a very important question answered for me!!. Thats what i like about this forum, i can ask stupid questions and not be flamed by arrogant people like most other forums i have been on.

Thanks Heaps!!!.

hi guys
i'm using the Incredible chart software to analyse the Australia stock market and i think it is a good charting software for TA analyst, you can use it to create chart for almost australian stock, and this software also has a lot of tool for us to analyse stock. If you guys want to take a look, this is an address.

if you dont try a new one, how can you know which is the best one for you ?

Totally agree
Great on line site
Free charting package with free end of day data or $18 month
A virtual E-Book on trading in the help section
Colin Twiggs has 2 weekly updates on the markets in his diary.
The Forum has some very experinced Traders who are more than willing to help.
Check out the weekly comp . --- see how and why other traders select their stocks, all selections in the comp must have a chart with analyst --- it doesn't get better than this for newbies.
IC is Traders only site though -- investors would be lost

Hi ALL,

Has anyone else got Version 5, and what do you think of changes...???

It's just a prelease, hence not officially released which comes out early next year (IC Time :p: )...???

Anyway Fib retracements & % Gain (Fixed Angle) Trendlines are mean't to be in next years release (not in prerelease), which I've been waiting for some year now, so cant wait to see them.

I would also like to see multiple windows with IC, and live and/or 20mins delayed data at least (currently 1.5hr delay), but not likely to see that if at all... :o

Also like to see scanning inprovements, as still the same in prelease.

Overall not much difference, to current version, hence :(

Like to hear others view...????

Christmas Cheers

To get away from it all on Christmas day, I went off to re-install IC after a pc crash and sent them an enquiry about my subscription settings.

I got a response that evening in an e-mail from Colin Twiggs advising he'd fixed the problem.

Great customer service.

hey. apologies for bumpage.

i just got incredible charts and was wondering if you can get a value for the MACD divergence. for example at ..

http://finance.yahoo.com/charts#chart21:symbol=avo.ax;range=1y;indicator=sm a(10,30,80)+volume+macd+rsi;charttype=candlestick; crosshair=on;logscale=on;source=undefined

you can see in the MACD indicator they give you a numerical value for the divergence (on the far right next to the green DIV: ).

in incredible charts MACD indicator it shows you graphically but there isn't a numerical value for div. i checked the IC help and forums but no luck thus far. does anyone know how to get this feature on or isn't it offered?

Hi there,
I've been trading around 18 months mostly on fundamentals. I'm interested in complimenting that with a) finding a T/A course in Perth (1 to 2 days for a start ) and b) trading software that shows more market depth then my stockbroking site and also gives some indication on whether the " smart money" is going on to a stock. Basically I want to pick stocks on fundamentals but need better signals on when to buy and sell.
Can anyone help??

Many thanks

Been using incredible charts for a while now, the latest update has made it even better value..fib tools and axis adjustments are fantastic additions. Personally $18 per month is worth it, no ads, hourly updates are a nice touch and the response to issues is exceptional for what you pay.

I have been using it for a while and was happy with it at first, but there are quite a few annoyances with it.

1.5 hour delayed data is pretty useless for making on the spot trading decisions, and is pitiful considering yahoo / asx data is free and delayed by only 20 mins. You can import data from yahoo however there seems to be a couple of days delay doing this. For $17 per month you cant expect real time data, but they should at least keep up with the (free) competition.

The Fibonnaci is a good addition however hopeless if you're doing backtesting, trying to add a retracement or extension automatically swings you forward to the most recent date on the screen :banghead:

The graphic editing is also quite crap (though I dont really know what to compare it to), but I would like the ability to create lines easier (a pen tool that stays on for example) and of differing widths. Some tools similar to microsoft paint would come in very handy for placing my own graphic jargon around the place.

To be fair, I do however like the stock screening options, though I cant really compare them to any other software.

Does anyone know of any better software for around the same price?
