I reckon this is going to be a long post.
Let me start it with just one question:
What is your secret that you don't want to tell other what so ever?
I don't have any at the moment, but constantly looking for one...LOL.

I have had a very interesting night....went to meet and greet cousins on my fathers side, and have found out my grandmother was a fijian princess :eek7: surreal couple of weeks for me...my brother came up from Sydney I haven't seen him for 20 odd years and my sister, my brother and I all went over to the cousins who live closer then I would have thought possible without banging into before this. It just goes to show you all may have someone over the fence who are closer then you may think....just a bit of personal trivia :p:

Try the imported dried out banana chips - fairly cheap and a great snack.

My real name is Joe... and I'm an ordinary Joe, that's why I'm Joe Blow. I initiated this forum on May 28, 2004 and I was motivated to do so because I had been involved in some online communities before that, had enjoyed the experience, and I wanted to try my hand at creating one myself. I was interested in the stock market, so I registered a domain name, got some hosting, installed some forum software... and the rest is history. :D

Well currently I'm in total agreeance.
Anything thats halved in share price from valuation has to have a serious problem it now has to DOUBLE to return to valuation.
Wouldnt you expect that at the time of valuation then the astute valuer would have been able to pick up that it was 50% OVER VALUED?
And its argued that Fundamental analysis is way more accurate than technical----Cant see it myself.

Can't argue with that. Just look at those who were saying "real estate always goes up" over the past couple of years... :D
OK, it might do somewhere but clearly not in Sydney... :2twocents

et al
There seems to be a slight misconception regarding what constitutes an undervaluation and why this is due in part to myself.
Within the posted portfolio there are selections from a number of strategies;
Bankruptcies that have been discharged from Chap.11 as recaps
Turnarounds [businesses that are going from losses to profits due to a new business strategy]
Growth Stocks
Defensive [recession resistant plays]
Legitimate good businesses undervalued
All the above represent a form of undervaluation.
Calculating an undervaluation for a turnaround, is different from a defensive, is different for a growth stock etc.
Thus, the valuation accuracy will be variable.
In some cases, it should be pretty close, in others, it will prove [and has proven to be quite frightning]
However, at the onset, a number of objectives were stated;
*lose no money
*100% success rate
*return at least 30% compounded
*maximum 3yrs timeframe
Within that criteria, nothing is yet amiss.
I am at 7.5 months in the timeline.
The maximum drawdown I think was 18% [currently 12%]
Returns are above 30% [120% if you annualise them]
Things are jogging along.

hey Joe Blow
I wouldn't mind if you ever get a chance to have a fool around with the site development to be able to put a shortcut through to the home page at the bottom of the posts. This way you dont have to scroll back up to go back to the start.

Hi Martin,
Just scroll down to the bottom instead, just below 'Similar Threads' and click where it says 'HOME' in the footer (to the left).
That will do the trick. :)

You said post anything so here goes:
10 THINGS STOCK TRADING HAS IN COMMON WITH SEX
1. Some like it long, some like it short.
2. You can study the market as much as you like, but it all comes down to luck.
3. Those who talk about it the most, have the least experience.
4. One simple mistake could lead to 18 unprofitable years.
5. Some prefer to sit back and watch it grow.
6. Terms that apply to both trading and sex: swing trading, asset turnover, naked call, after hours, insider trading, silent partner, blind entries, 30-day wash rule, straddle, descending tops, ascending bottoms, pump and dump, partial surrender, position limit, voluntary liquidation, and explicit interest.
7. Low confidence can keep you out of the market.
8. Everyone tends to focus on performance.
9. Some do it alone, others do it with a group, and some hire professionals.
10. Some positions are better than others and the best position is always up for debate!

A link to some lame jokes about the stock market (http://www.jokes.net/stockmarketjokes.htm)
And some somewhat better quality jokes (http://www.stta-consulting.com/jokes/jokes.htm) ....
October. This is one of the peculiarly dangerous months to speculate in stocks in. The others are July, January, September, April, November, May, March, June, December, August and February.

:D made me laugh,
How about comparisons between stocks n marriage?
Get into the wrong one (stock or marraige) and it'll take you for the wildest ride of your life, but eventually it will leave you broke, demoralised and emotionaly upset :p:
However choose wisely and your likely to reap ample dividends
Unlike stocks, marraiges require your stop losses to be AT LEAST 50% (HALF!) away from your starting position :p:,
However certain contracts exist to ensure that you can minimise your losses, they include put/call options over the underlying stocks and Pre-Nups :p:

ASF is always slow (sometimes impossibly slow) around 10.30 to 11am in the morning... especially on weekdays... I wonder why?
