Hello,
I'm a beginner investor and CommSec user and I'm having some trouble with their watchlist feature. I used to have 2000 shares in a company that I bought for 0.475, I just acquired 286 more shares of theirs in a rights offer for 1.50. I don't seem to be able to have the same stock twice in the watchlist which i need to make my custom portfolio balance out. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Thank you for any help.

Yes that is a problem with Commsec.
One way around it (not necessarily a satisfactory one) is to average out the price.

I'm pretty certain that Dutchie's suggestion is the only way you can manage that on Comsec - you have to show the total number of shares and then the average price -if you want only one watchlist.
You could create another watchlist and have your second parcel of shares on the second watchlist. This is a little inconvenient because you cannot see the sum total of all your shares on one watchlist.

yes, i have the same problem too. you can either average the price up/down as suggested or create another watchlist. but that wont give you the total in your portfolio statement either. :banghead:
what i did instead was to recreate all my watchlists in Yahoo Finance (australia/nz) as it does allow you to create two or more of the same stock within a watchlist. also, you can customize the columns to your own desire and have a more powerful chart tools compared to ComSec. all in all, it's a pretty cool all-in-one stop for your stock needs. the only setback is that there's a delay in the price update (about 1/2hr i think).
happy trading!
Adrian.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably just average the price out but I'll keep yahoo finance in mind.

In addition to the other suggestions, if you know how to use a spreadsheet like Excel then setting up a spreadsheet to monitor/manage your portfolio is quite simple.
You can customise the spreadsheet to have a separate entry for each parcel of shares you have in a company...ie...rights issues, DRP etc etc and all sorts of other things.
