I use metastock and find it very easy to use. There's so many features in it, I don't understand it all but it's quite good so far. Especially the Explorer feature that can scan all the stocks for you based on the method you choose to come up with a few results which you then can eyeball.

try www.incrediblecharts.com

its a free charting program and seems to have a large following here in Australia

I use ezy-charts and can't say i'd recommend it. I'ts pretty good used with ezy-analyser but that's 700 bucks! You can pick up amibroker for about $200us I think and that seems a faaaaar better deal to me. I don't have it but it seems to be on a par with Metastock from what I hear and is a tenth the price. I just wish i'd asked on this forum before taking the advice of some prominent australian authors on whats good bang for buck.

You have to try Freecharts (the price is right, I mean its free)
The Pro version is what I use and it's enough for most of the things I want

There are quite a few places to get the data daily for free, and some places to get the historical data for free too

Do a search here too (see 'Posting Guidelines' at top of each forum) for info on some programmes that people here use.

A similar question was asked by someone else under the heading of "looking for software advice". The link is http://www.aussiestockforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1638

Good luck!
