Hi Guys Any one used pro trader? And how about the Darvas theory?
Anyone new to this thread should note that the thread is on a software package called protrader which uses Darvas Boxes. Some of the posts were removed because they were on the unrelated Comsec trading platform/software so you may find some of the initial posts a bit confusing. For the ComSec ProTrader1 or ProTrader2 that CommSec clients use for trading see the ComSec Protrader thread (http://www.aussiestockforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1443).

Mark,
Just for clarity,do you mean the CBA trading platform or the Perth based software system. I assume the later as they use darvas box method.
I don't use it,just heard about it.

No probs I am trialing it wondered if anyone else uses it.If you dont use any software for detecting rising stocks how do you pick them and have a trade plan?I am just trying to learn more techniques.

The book by Frank Watkins (ex broker) is excellent for beginners.
The software is overpriced and not flexible enough IMO.
You are tied to them for data...
Much better value software elsewhere !!

Mark,
I'm quite skeptical about blackboxes but if it works for you let us know, sorry I don't know anything about that particular system.

Have a read of Nick's book first. He specifically mentions the Darvis system, what makes it profitable, and why you DON'T need to buy software to use it.

I think that there are certain stocks that lend themselves to Darvis boxes and others don't. Reading his book though it is finding the oppotunities (he used to use fundamental as well as technical tecniques) that had more to do with Darvis making his money rather than just applying his boxes. Very good book, well worth a read.

Is this Nick Radge's book you are refering to?

There was some recent discussion of Darvas box trading software so I'm bumping this thread as some of you may not be aware of it, you can use keywords like 'Darvas' in the search tool to locate other material on Darvas.
