Dear All

Could anyone please point me in the direction of ASX stock data that goes back to at least the 1987 crash. I am also trying to build a data base of commodities prices (especially gold $US) and Australian interest rates, 10year bond yields, ASX diviend yields and PER, and CPI. I would like to thankyou in advance for helping me and I would like to say that I am prepared to pay a reasonable price for this data if it is accurate and reliable.

you can get monthly ASX levels from the ASX and daily levels from trading room

I have data on the All ords back to 1983, and data on the Dow Jones back to 1896 (reconstructed data back to 1800 if you want it). Let me know what format you want the data in.

Cheers

This is the link to a page on the ASX which lists and describes some data providers, more like an ad, not good enough imo, a google search is better: http://www.asx.com.au/resources/information_services/historical.htm

CommSec website provides only current commodities prices (updated daily), but no commodities charts or past commodities data. Does anyone know where I can download such data free of charge?

Yahoo used to offer gold, silver, platinum and palladium historical prices going back a fair way.

There was a site for ASX stocks too but it was unadjusted for splits and name changes.

If people are still interested I ca try to find that

hi all,

just wondering if anyone knows where i can get ASX historical data (eg: one large download or a CD etc) at a small cost?

im really only interested in clean data that has been adjusted for splits etc.

im aware some vendors provide this when you subscribe to their data subscriptions but for now all i want is some static data to play with when backtesting systems etc. ie: any subscription will come at a later date.

many thanks!

guys the only way to get guaranteed clean data is to pay for it. a good vendor i use is Premium Data.

If you want to go the free method though there are options however its well known that if you want to test systems etc with this data you do so at your own risk.

one site im aware of is: http://www.asxtoday.com/asx-historical-data/

good luck.

Most of the data providers will sell you an ASX history disc for a little over $100 without having to subscribe to an annual feed. Paritech springs to mind. (www.paritech.com.au).
